I tried this a couple times. Temp here is 85 so it should have thawed out. I just went out again to check. Pipes aren't frozen but they are ice cold. There is dripping still pretty steady. Do I need to let it thaw overnight again? I can't check the inside part because it's in the attic and I am 75 years old with bad back. Do you think it will thaw overnight? Please help. Most of the “pros” will refuse to work in an ac if the home owner has ever touched it including the cleaning part…makes me wonder how they think they can be so arrogant about it when half the time they don’t even bother showing up when they’ve scheduled an appointment with u….quite entitled really…they complain that home owners don’t maintain their stuff but then refuse to work on anything they suspect the home owner has touched for any reason! lol….which is it?

I’ve always known that to be called the A frame….i clean the one on my set up every spring…for some reason it gets pretty dirty but I live by a ton of cottonwood trees on the edge of town…that cotton floaty stuff gets everywhere including the vehicles air breather…I just try to get the thing to dry down completely if it’s already been frozen over and damp now…if it’s dry then east to clean….get the layer of cottonwood cotton to start in one corner and pull it off….and then carefully clean the rest of it with a shop vac and attachment ….im surprised so many home owners don’t know about this sort of thing and neglect their heating and cooling systems like they do….mist people have never even vacuumed out their duct work either….the crap that builds up in the duct work alone is surprising lol

I wish A-coil were accessible without taking it apart and having to retape it together, far too much tacking apart for DIY!

I'm having the same issue. Hope it is just a filter for me. Open the coil compartment maybe too dangerous for me. I'm afraid of being electrocuted.

I’m so grateful for this video you have no idea. I watched you turn A/C off and fan on on the thermostat. I let the fan run for 5.5 hrs checking to see how much water was running out of the a/c drain pipe until it was just a drip. It was a miracle, I swear I came inside and turned a/c back on and the a/c blew ice cold like a new unit. I suffered this entire past week in the Florida extreme heat until I found your video today. My a/c guy wanted to charge me extra weekend rate to come out today. I’m glad I held off. I saved myself hundreds of dollars by watching your video. Please make a short so that more homeowners can watch your tips. Thank you so much from the bottom of my nurse heart. My kitty cats thank you too. We are enjoying our cold air conditioned home tonight. 🆒😁💯👍🏻

Nice video, when cleaning a coil always protect your hands, eyes, and lungs, and start from the top, left to right, and work your way to the bottom.

Do all ac compressors have a filter?

Best advice I've seen in another video is that when the air handler coil is cleaned, doing the exterior unit's condenser radiator should be done. There's a reason the instructions indicate doing it 2X a year. As for the low on freon, that means there is a leak & the professional will be needed at that point, unless you know what you're doing with HVAC systems.

And using 2 filters is a HUGE no no.

Your coil is dirty because you have a worthless horsehair filter, dense enough to stop marbles and squirrels,

Many times you can not clean an Evaporator Coil without removing it - the underside is inaccessible. Also, the Evaporator Coil rarely gets dirty because it's only exposed to well filtered air (assuming you use quality air filters and change them regularly).

You need a better filter situation. Looks like a washable hog hair filter. They called it duralast. Worse filter for trapping dirt. That filter you put back in still looks dirty. You can see where dirt is getting through, on the coil side.

The double filters aren't helping your airflow. Switch to a single, cheap MERV8 paper filter for best results.
